Benefits of Tru Comfort Advantage HVAC Maintenance Plans
- Cut energy bills with the Tru Comfort Advantage Preventative Maintenance Plan: Preventive maintenance helps ensure that your HVAC system runs at close to peak efficiency. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, this can mean savings of up to 30% on your energy bill.
- Catch Minor Problems Before They Become Large or Emergency Problems: By performing preventive maintenance regularly, we can potentially prevent many problems that would eventually require reactive maintenance (when there is a problem). Even if issues do still occur, they’ll often be much cheaper to fix because you’ll notice them earlier.
- Improve the Lifespan of Units: Preventative maintenance also helps to reduce wear on major HVAC appliances, meaning they last longer and deliver a better performance well into the future.
- Enhanced Indoor Air Quality: HVAC maintenance includes cleaning or replacing air filters, which helps improve indoor air quality. Clean filters capture dust, pollen, pet dander, and other airborne particles, preventing them from circulating in your home. This is particularly beneficial for individuals with allergies or respiratory conditions, as it helps create a healthier and more comfortable indoor environment.
- Improved Safety: Regular HVAC maintenance includes safety checks to identify potential hazards such as gas leaks, faulty electrical connections, or malfunctioning safety controls. Detecting these issues early helps prevent accidents, protects your property, and ensures the safety of your family or occupants.
- Compliance with Warranty Requirements: Many HVAC manufacturers require regular maintenance as part of their warranty terms. By scheduling regular maintenance, you ensure that your system complies with these requirements, keeping your warranty valid. This can be beneficial in case of any major system failures or component defects covered under the warranty.
Cooling
During our AC maintenance check-ups, we check refrigerant levels by either a temperature split or gauges or both, check return air duct sizing and return air grill sizes, and check compressor, condensing fan motor, and blower motor amp draw and capacitors to make sure they are in the range of manufacturer specifications. We check the thermostat calibration, the secondary drain pan, and water test condensation drain lines. We will perform a static pressure test. We will recommend anything we find to be out of manufactures ranges or not to industry standards.
Heating
On a heat pump, we check the same as cooling, plus we check the defrost cycle. For heating with gas furnaces, we check the flame sensor, pressure switch, hot surface ignitor (ohm), temperature rise, and shut down cycle of the gas furnace.
We recommend carbon monoxide monitors, not detectors. We can explain the difference.

Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I schedule HVAC maintenance?
It is recommended to schedule HVAC maintenance at least once a year. Ideally, you should schedule maintenance in the spring before the cooling season and in the fall before the heating season. However, if you have a combined heating and cooling system, scheduling maintenance twice a year is generally recommended. Additionally, if your system is under warranty, regular maintenance may be a requirement to keep the warranty valid.
Can I perform HVAC maintenance myself, or do I need professional assistance?
While there are some maintenance tasks you can do yourself, such as regularly changing air filters, most HVAC maintenance should be performed by a qualified professional. Certified HVAC technicians have the knowledge, experience, and specialized tools to thoroughly inspect and maintain your system. They can identify potential issues, clean and lubricate components, check refrigerant levels, and ensure your system operates safely and efficiently.
What are the benefits of professional HVAC maintenance?
Professional HVAC maintenance offers several benefits. It helps improve system efficiency, which can result in energy savings and lower utility bills. Regular maintenance also reduces the likelihood of unexpected breakdowns, helping you avoid costly repairs or replacements. Additionally, professional maintenance can improve indoor air quality by cleaning or replacing air filters, removing dust, allergens, and other pollutants from the air.
What happens during a typical HVAC maintenance appointment?
During a typical HVAC maintenance appointment, a qualified technician will perform a range of tasks to ensure the optimal functioning of your system. This may include inspecting and cleaning components, such as coils, blower motors, and condensate drains, checking electrical connections, measuring refrigerant levels, lubricating moving parts, testing system controls, and verifying overall system performance. The technician will also address any specific concerns or questions you may have about your HVAC system.
